Sinopsis:Jacob Langston, un niño de ocho años, amanece en un arrozal de una zona rural de China. Inicialmente, el joven se esfuerza por recordar su identidad. Pero es más tarde cuando recupera su memoria: dice ser estadounidense y vivir con su familia en Arcadia. Cuando el agente J. Martin Bellamy lo lleva de regreso a casa, Jacob identifica a sus padres, Henry y Lucille Langston, un matrimonio que afirma haber perdido a su hijo hace 32 años tras resultar ahogado. La madre cree en el milagro, mientras que su padre está más inclinado a pensar en una especie de intento de estafa. El sheriff Fred, quien perdió a su esposa en el mismo lugar en el que Jacob falleció, comienza a investigar el suceso, mientras empiezan a aparecer los otros retornados.
